Office Hours: Volunteer Management

“PERMA Office Hours” are designed with the members in mind! Office Hours consist of a 35-45-minute presentation designed to help members learn more about a risk management or insurance topic, or valuable resources, followed by about 15-20 minutes of questions/discussion. Office Hours will close with a facilitated conversation to allow members to share concerns, emerging issues, and great ideas with one another. They are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month, from 3:00 – 4:00 pm (exceptions noted). Register for all sessions or only those in which you are interested, and learn how you can get more from your PERMA membership. We look forward to your participation!

This meeting will discuss the following:

Volunteer programs address community service needs while placing special emphasis on the Agency’s priorities.  It is important to effectively match individuals, and others interested in providing services to Agency departments, to safe and fun volunteer opportunities. An Agency volunteer program should be centrally coordinated and manage all volunteer efforts. There are several key steps in managing volunteers effectively:

  1. Define the volunteer roles in the organization
  2. Recruit volunteers
  3. Onboard volunteers
  4. Establish clear communication
  5. Provide comprehensive training
  6. Provide feedback to volunteers
  7. Recognize and reward volunteers
